Rezum for BPH
Resume Your Life
A minimally invasive treatment that uses the natural energy of heated water to destroy the enlarged portion of the prostate and relieve urinary symptoms
Rezum Water Vapor Therapy is a non-surgical, outpatient treatment that uses controlled steam to reduce excess prostate tissue, improving urinary flow and relieving BPH symptoms. Unlike medications or invasive surgery, Rezum offers long-lasting relief with no downtime, preserving sexual function and continence.
BPH & Treatment Options
Struggling with nighttime trips to the bathroom?
Many men experience nocturia – waking up multiple times a night to urinate – due to an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH). This constant disruption leads to poor sleep, daytime fatigue, and a decline in overall quality of life. Along with frequent urination, weak stream, and incomplete emptying, BPH can make even simple daily activities feel exhausting.
While medications may offer temporary relief, they often come with side effects. Traditional surgeries like TURP can be effective but require longer recovery and carry a higher risk of complications.
Rezum Therapy offers a minimally invasive alternative. This one-time treatment uses the natural energy of water vapor to reduce excess prostate tissue, relieving obstruction and restoring urinary function – so you can get back to uninterrupted sleep and a better quality of life.

The Process
1. Consultation & Evaluation
One of our specialists will assess your symptoms and prostate size to determine if Rezum is the right treatment for you.
2. The Procedure
Under appropriate anesthesia, sterile steam is delivered in short bursts to targeted areas of the prostate through a small device inserted into the urethra. The steam disrupts excess prostate tissue, which then gradually breaks down and is naturally eliminated from the body through urination. The treatment itself takes about 10 minutes, and all patients are discharged the same day.
3. Recovery & Follow-Up
A temporary catheter is usually required for several days. Symptom relief begins as soon as the catheter is removed, with the full benefits becoming evident over several weeks as the body gradually reabsorbs and eliminates the treated prostate tissue.
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland. As the prostate grows, it can obstruct urine flow, leading to symptoms such as nocturia, frequent urination, weak stream, urgency, and difficulty emptying the bladder.
Rezum is an excellent option for men with moderate-to-severe BPH symptoms who want a minimally invasive treatment that preserves erectile function and continence. It’s ideal for those who want long-term symptom relief without daily medications or invasive procedures like TURP.
Most patients require only one treatment session. The steam energy reduces prostate size over time, with symptom relief typically improving within weeks and reaching full effect within 3-6 months.
Rezum has a low risk of affecting continence. Unlike traditional surgery, it targets only the obstructing prostate tissue, reducing the risk of complications.
Rezum is designed to preserve sexual function. Studies show that the majority of men maintain erectile function and ejaculation after treatment. A scoping review of 15 studies with over 2,400 patients found that Rezum therapy generally has no negative impact on erectile function, and in some cases, improvements were reported. Additionally, the majority of studies indicate that ejaculation remains unaffected or may even improve in some patients.
Rezum is performed under local anesthesia, with or without IV sedation, and typically takes 10 to 15 minutes. Some men experience mild discomfort during and after the procedure, but pain is usually minimal and well-managed with over-the-counter medication.
For several weeks after the procedure, while your prostate heals and the excess tissue is naturally expelled through urination, you may experience temporary increases in urinary frequency and urgency. This is a normal part of the healing process and gradually improves on its own. Most patients begin to notice symptom relief within two weeks, with full benefits typically achieved between three to six months.
