Circumcision
A precise, expert-performed procedure for men considering circumcision for cosmetic, religious, or other personal reasons
Adult circumcision is an outpatient procedure that removes the foreskin. At Urology Innovations Canada, circumcision is performed by experienced urologists using advanced techniques that prioritize comfort, precision, and optimal healing.
Why Consider Adult Circumcision?
While circumcision is most often performed in infancy, many adult men choose the procedure later in life for various reasons, including:
- Aesthetic preference – Some men prefer the appearance of a circumcised penis.
- Cultural or religious reasons – Some men opt for circumcision later in life due to personal beliefs.
- Reduced risk of certain conditions – Studies suggest circumcision may reduce the risk of recurrent infections and certain STIs.

The Process
1. Consultation & Evaluation
Our urologists will discuss your goals and medical history, ensuring circumcision is the right choice for you.
2. The Procedure
Performed under local or general anesthesia. The foreskin is carefully removed, and sutures are placed for optimal healing. The entire procedure takes approximately 30-45 minutes.
3. Recovery & Follow-Up
Patients return home the same day and typically resume light activities within a few days. Sutures dissolve on their own within 10-14 days.
Most men return to work and light activities within a few days. Full healing typically takes 4-6 weeks.
The procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia, so there is minimal discomfort. Some soreness and swelling are normal in the days following the procedure, but pain is manageable with over-the-counter medication.
There is no evidence that circumcision negatively impacts sexual function or sensitivity. Some men report enhanced sensation or improved confidence post-procedure.
You’ll need to keep the area clean, avoid sexual activity for 2 weeks or until the sutures dissolve, and follow any additional aftercare instructions provided by your doctor.
